Today I returned to my hometown and celebrated the 4th of July with my family and two of my sister's college friends.

I'm a mostly vegetarian, but usually have meat when there is no other choice, or it is a special occasion. I wish my parents had grilled steak instead of hamburgers and hot dogs. Back when, hamburgers were just something I ate. I have now decided that they aren't really all that good.

Because my hometown is filled with a bunch of geeks, yuppies, and defense engineers, all the local festivies cost money. So my sister and I, and her 2 friends from Florida and Indiana went to a nearby industrial/river port city. I'm glad, because at that free festival, we got the full effect.

The crowd was the nice multicultural mix of Whites, Blacks, and Latinos, that we Americans are so fond of. We got to hear the shrill singing of local Miss Alabama hopefuls. I was cheering for the girl who sang the Jesus song with the phat bassological kareoke beat. I can't comment on their looks because we were too far away, and I can't comment on their platforms, because we couldn't hear all that well.

My vote for favorite group of people has to go to the "Kid Rock Family." The dad had a Kid Rock t-shirt, and looked very much like the entertainer. His little son and daughter looked very much like Kid Rock also.

For the fireworks show, they played some patriotic country song, "Freebird" (yes! I know! Freebird during a fireworks show!), "Sweet Home Alabama," and closed with "Born in the USA" by the Boss. The Grand Finale lasted a total of 3 seconds, and was probably the best Grand Finale I've ever seen.

In closing. USA!

Its great to go home for the 4th. I did and had better time with cheap fire works, home-made fire works, and illeagel fire works. Food was unhealthy and great! I choose that over some big huge firework display, thats over priced. Reminded me whats being american's all about, freedom, getting fat, and all the exploding insturments of destruction you can get your hands on!

If they let off fireworks to celebrate Independence Day, will the US fly planes to commemmorate September 11?

"Born in the USA." Nice patriotic song. I hope they did "Fortunate Son," too.
