 My newfound non-conformity

I'm struggling here. I lurked for a couple weeks, got a feel for things, made a diary entry and got it deleted. Gradually, I saw the points from which people were arguing, how they were arguing, and what the popular motifs for comments and diary entries were. I did my best to become the best little Adequacy Bot I could be. People were starting to write well-thought-out responses to my comments. I even hit a gold mine: I spawned a large thread with little relavance toward my original comment, and even some biblical prooftexting. Yet there is a problem.

I can't seem to pick the right choices on the polls. It seems that every time I vote on poll, I pick the second-least-popular answer. With no fail. I have only once picked the least popular answer, and sometimes a couple results are tied. It is a curse. I feel all the effort I have made to fit in is a lie. If I cannot automatically pick the first, or second-most-popular choice, am I truly adequate? Am I just a sham?

The only way to be just like everyone else around here is to not remotely resemble anyone else.

that Luisa was probably a guy.

A guy with serious questions about his sexuality, I'll grant you that, but still a guy none the less.

Polls don't determine gender, despite providing seconds of entertainment value.

I voted for the second least popular answer. It's easy the last option is always the most popular. First is second most. Second is least most. So depending on how many options there are, you know exactly what to vote for. This of course is more true in the cases where the poll answers don't have any content, but it mostly holds true when they do. Which goes to show that theres a subtle brainwashing in the ordering of poll options.

Second-most-popular! (none / 0) (#5)

Maybe I'm just paranoid. I let the poll sit overnight, and I just voted. I chose the second-most-popular answer!

"right choices???" (none / 0) (#6)

I had no idea the polls were supposed to have a "right" answer based on popularity here... for some reason I thought people here wouldn't be too terribly worried about "fitting in" to ANY category. While it's been said that "great minds think alike," it never would have occured to me to worry about picking the popular answer on the polls! Go ahead, be unique, in your own way, just like everyone else! I picked the next to last answer in your poll and my vote made it tie with the first answer for second most popular vote. I thought that was funny.

Oh, and since I'm still so new to so many things, having grown up in a cave, what are "trolls" and "trolling" in the context of the warning against it here?
