Where are the biathelon and pentathelon options? Where is ice hockey, for the love of Not-God? Have you never heard of curling? Where is "pushing elderly relatives out to sea on an ice floe?"

Well, this is certainly controversial.

I can see leaving the greatest thing in the whole world out, as it (ice fishing) is not strictly a sport, but how in Not-God's name can you possibly ignore uphill snowmobiling? This is a travesty.

But nothing beats the joy of taking a bucket of day-glo orange balls, wrapping yourself up in a parka, and hitting the links in the midst of a winter wonderland. Plus the days are longer up there in the summer, so you can play golf twice as long as anywhere else on God's green (and white) planet!

by Anonymous Reader on Wed Dec 19th, 2001 at 12:04:12 PM PST
I am usure what do say regarding this post, considering that it is not even real english. "where is Meathelmets?" is not english. "What are meathelmets" would have been correct, or even "Where ARE Meat helmets located"...besides the startling lack of english skills, the subject matter surprizes me. What do you mean? If you are going for babbling insanity then you have accomplished your goal.

I apologize to all that saw my misspelling...I did not mean to offend anyone..except you html boy. since you do not have the brain power to change your type to "html" you have no basis to comment on my typing mistake. :-P

"Html"? Is that someone's name. Certainly you are not referring to the acronym for hypertext markup language. I know that you are far too intelligent to make such an elementary error in capitalization. --TTA

beginning of sentance.... (none / 0) (#9)
by Anonymous Reader on Wed Dec 19th, 2001 at 12:17:30 PM PST
Since you do not seem to know the elementary forms of the english language, I will recite them too you simply. At the beginning of a sentance, you capitalize the first letter, not matter what the word is. Keep working on speaking english fluency senor. --Gandalf The White.

The allusion to Shakespeare's similarly-titled play is an accurate description of your post. It is you who does not know how to construct a senteence in the English language. I do not have to tell you that your use of the language is atrocious at best. I, as opposed to you, can speak English fluently. According to
    The Chicago Manual of Style
, acronyms are entirely capitalized, not just their initial letter. I suggest you thoroughly review this fine publication. --TTA

A Traitor in our Midst (none / 0) (#15)
by Anonymous Reader on Thu Dec 20th, 2001 at 06:30:25 AM PST
Gentlemen (not ladies, because we have successfully purged our ranks of the weaker sex), allow me to quote from "Gandalf's" missive. You are correct that I misspelled several words...but in typing, who is flawless. certainly not you --GTW This is not coherent speech. I ask you, fellow patriots, would a native English speaker show such woeful lack of familiarity with something that any true American uses every day - the English language? The answer to that is self-evident. Gandalf is an alien. Furthermore, he is attempting to disguise this fact by professing command of the language. He must be doing this for nefarious purposes or he would not need to hide his foreignness.

The alias he has chosen, Gandalf - perhaps it will yield clues to his true purpose. It comes from that most despicable of self-proclaimed media, the dime-store fantasy novel. There is a character in a vile piece of trash called "The Lord of the Rings" called "Gandalf the Gray." The Lord of the Rings. Gandalf is a Monarchist determined to overthrow the American Democracy and replace it with the wretched Monarchy which our forefathers gave their lives and the lives of countless others to save us from! Furthermore, he selects the name of Gandalf the Gray. Gray, gentlemen, is the color of the trilateral commission. It is clear that they are backing this fiend. We must defend our shores. To arms, gentlemen, to arms!

If being intelligent constitutes being alien... (none / 0) (#16)
by Anonymous Reader on Thu Dec 20th, 2001 at 06:56:40 AM PST
First off, heathen, Lord of the Rings is the greatest piece of literature ever to come around since "Hamlet-Prince of Denmark." Second, to point out to all involved how ignorant and blind you really are, I mention that my name is Gandalf the WHITE, as in the final, more powerful form of the famous wizard.
As for being a monarchist...that could hardly be further from the truth. I am a communist, someone who TRULY believes in Democracy, not like your pussy, militant, oppressive, republican controlled "republic".

Commie!! (none / 0) (#17)
by Anonymous Reader on Thu Dec 20th, 2001 at 06:59:36 AM PST
Gandalf is now a self-proclaimed Communist. Of course Gandalf is a fool, for he is a Communist. But he is even more the fool for revealing this information in an open forum. Even now, the Guardians of Democracy, the FBI, are on their way to his home to "question" him with extreme prejudice. America shall remain safe.

Guardians of democracy...don't make me laugh (none / 0) (#18)
by Anonymous Reader on Thu Dec 20th, 2001 at 07:05:22 AM PST
I am sorry that you think that the FBI is a virtuous organization, TTA. Unfortunately it shows how far the goverment's mind-controlling program has gone. The American government is supposed to exist "by the will of the people" yet is not that very same government now telling people that they cannot speak out against it? This does not sound like any "democracy" that I would want to live in. If you do not speak out regularly, you lose your right to be heard. I say to you, TTA, fight for true democracy. --GTW

Will of the People (none / 0) (#19)
by Anonymous Reader on Thu Dec 20th, 2001 at 07:06:19 AM PST
Yes, the government exists by the will of the people. The people it exists by the will of are George W. Bush, Attorney-General Ashcroft, and the board of Enron. Are FBI agents not people too?

George Bush, hereto named "the idiot", is but one person in a democracy of 280,000,000. The fact that one man, one man possessed of below average intelligence in fact, could maintain such a hold on one person who is as intelligent as yourself (albeit not as smart as I) is sad, and shows the problems in our "free, American" system.

How you can believe in The Idiot, is beyond my comprehension. Furthermore, by mentioning those supposed stereotypical items in American life, you are showing how out of touch you truly are. America contains numerous minority groups that would not agree with your bias, and atrociously out of place statement on American politics and life. I would suggest that YOU, go back to YOUR hole... you know, the one that you have been hiding in for these nigh on 200 years. --GTW

Dear Anonymous Reader:

Next time, could you please put the whole composition in a single post? I realize that you may have an ending in mind that requires a very narrow column, but the effect could just as easily have been achieved using a worldly-net formatting device or two.

I think you've made a decent effort here, but the "multi-post" format is a real deterrent to the reader.

It was a little game that a friend and I had. The two personas in the conversation were actually two separate people. I think we're done now. If we've disrupted the formatting on the poll page, well, it serves you all right for contemplating the idea of a "vacation". This concept must be stopped. If the Proleteriat are given free time, if they have a break from the endless tedium of labor, they may begin to get dangerous ideas.

(I suppose replies to this should go in a new thread.)

Considering that sentence is spelled: s-e-n-t-e-n-c-e and not senteence, you should really not make any comments about my use of the English language. As far as my mistakes...I admite that they do happen, as I usually do not preview my comments before I post them. I will make sure to please your omnipotent self in the future. -- GTW

I Fart In Your General Direction (none / 0) (#12)
by Anonymous Reader on Wed Dec 19th, 2001 at 12:29:52 PM PST
According to my good friend Merriam Webster, sentence is spelled sentence. I would like to inform all observers of this duel that my enemy, the blackguard Gandalf, spelled sentence sentance until I corrected him. He attempted to delay posting in order to cause me to be tardy and thus have the trolley-operator leave the stop without me on board the contraption, so I composed my reply before he posted his. The scoundrel observed my composition without my authorization and saw that my stunningly brilliant riposte was about to expose him for the fool that he is.
