Forget about your watch. Smash your clocks. Nuke the sun dial. Time is just a figment of our imaginations.

Time does not pass.

To quote Neil Peart, "Time is a spiral, space is a curve". Yes, a spiral - right down the toilet. Time is a lame concept used to try and explain why things happen in a certain order. It is all just a matter of perception: nothing happened, because it already has happened when you notice it. See?

Time is not there. You cannot grab time. You cannot beat time. You cannot save time. Because there is no time. Someone very clever has fooled us - time isn't real.

So then, why do things happen? They don't. Why do events occur in a certain order? Why is there cause and effect? There isn't - everything has already happened, and it heppens perpetually. Cause and effect are one in the same.

People worry too much about what will happen. Just stop it now! There is no need to worry. Something has already taken place, you just haven't realized it yet. But do not worry aout it - its not worth the effort. Save all that energy for something more useful like taking a nice hike, a bike ride, having sex, or baking cookies.

Time just isn't real.

you've got it all wrong. evidently, you've not read anything I've written on GiZ. Nor anything I've written anywhere else.

I am not who you think I am.

That the people on "GiZ" would be far more interested in your college-freshman-style stoner philosophizing than the people here are.

There you're far more likely to find more of the sort of people who learned the physics of space-time from the "back to the future" movies.

College-freshmen-style stoner philosophizing? nice one, but not very succinct, nor does it hit the target very well.

Evidently, you've confused the poll with the story text, combining the two when there is indeed no link. You made an improper assumption. Now, I admit that it was perhaps unfair of me to put a poll that had nothing to do with the article, but hey, what do I care? 'Cause ya know what? I don't.

And besides, I haven't had to perforn an ether extraction in quite some time, though I'm much more likely to be exposed to ethyl acetate and ethanol fumes.

Likewise, if you don't like what I write, why are you bothering to reply to it? Moron.

I care little for what you have to say or what you think. You missed the boat, you don't understand me, and you've yet to get it. Now grow up - your lack of understanding pains me.

I didn't notice the poll. I was just observing that you were saying things nobody cares about unless they've killed more than their fair share of brain cells.

of course, I could always respond by proclaiming that your pedantic whining would be better suited in my son's daycare, but I wouldn't want to punish the children that way.

I am not who you think I am.

The only reason we have time is so everything dosn't happen at once.

Time is perception (none / 0) (#8)

Well, time may or maynot exist, but the fact that you can't touch it is not unequivocal proof that it doesn't exist.
I happen to view time as perception. At one precise moment in time, the Universe as we see it can be though of a single point in a line, with all points to the left of it being collectively know as the 'past,' and all points to the right of it the 'future.' All of these points currently exist, time is simple a way of describing which point our conciousness is currently processing. This doesn't necessarily preclude the idea of free-will, though. Even though every possible action has already occured, we only get to experience one chain of events, which is determined by our actions. These actions are simply a way to tell our concious mind which path to follow.
Or something like that. I could go one forever, but that's the gist of the way I see things.

As a child I wanted to know everything. Now I miss my ignorance.
