now, some with more decrepid or depraved/deprived minds might think that a day sucking more could be a good thing. No, this is not the case.

Now, mind you, it is only nearing the end of the work day, so things have a good chance of getting better from this point on, but what has occurred as of yet has, well, sucked.

I arrive to find everyone standing outside. Oh, hoo-fucking-ray, the fire alarm has gone off yet again. No, sadly the building was not really on fire, and we had to go back in. However, the delay that this caused pretty much shot the morning to hell, which then screwed up the rest of the day.

Lunch was nice, in that I left and ate elsewhere. But, sadly, I had to go back.

So I did some stuff, mostly unexciting crap. I did have some exceiment with a spur-of-the-moment investigation, but, well, this is a bad thing, as the data in quiestion is total shit. Oh well, only 3 months of a test down the drain. That's life. I'm determined to find out why the data is shit, but this is difficult to do after the fact. Such is the fate of investigating tests that problems only show up well after the samples are all gone.

Oh well.

I'll live.

But, damnit, now I'm probably going to be even more pissed off.

At least I get a 3 day weekend to look forward to.

Lennon "tribute" (5.00 / 1) (#1)
by Starship Trooper on Wed Oct 3rd, 2001 at 03:55:00 PM PST
Does it piss anyone else off how Yoko, the other ex-Beatles and everyone else feel the need to constantly cash in on his legacy? It's absolutely disgusting; John loved and trusted his wife enough to leave almost all his estate to her, and she just milks it to hell. "Imagine no posessions" indeed.

Sorry, but that poll option just reminded me of what a crass world we live in.

that's why I still kinda find it hard to believe that the members of Yes still manage to have respect for Yoko... I mean, shit, The Ladder's title is partly drawn from her "Yes" written on the ceiling that you had to climb the ladder and use a magnifying glass to see... and, of course, Alan actually toured with John and Yoko...

anyway... I'm just sad I missed Spacey's number he sang, since I've been told it was the only worthwhile part of the whole thing.

Depends where the money is going (5.00 / 2) (#3)
by Anonymous Reader on Thu Oct 4th, 2001 at 04:40:35 AM PST
Lennon was very much aware of his status, he sought to use his fame for the betterment of mankind and he milked his own fame for causes such as world peace. If Yoko and the ex-Beatles are using his name to raise money for good causes I dont think he would be too dissapointed. Of course, if its all for personal gain then that would indeed be disgusting.

In this situation I think Lennon would probably be more on the side of the people of Afghanistan who have already suffered much hardship and would also be vehemently against the buidup of arms in the middle east precipitated by this crisis, but it's fruitless to speculate about the possible motives of a dead man and so we have to trust that Yoko, whom he spent virtually all of his final years with, is acting responsibly and using his wealth in a way that will help bring about the world which he envisioned. If she isn't, then on her conscience be it.

I hate Lennon. (1.00 / 3) (#4)
by tkatchev on Thu Oct 4th, 2001 at 06:04:43 AM PST
Lennon is a liberal pansie and a satanist. He got what he deserved. (No, I don't have the time and energy to argue now. If you're going to defend Lennon, you're a liberal anyways, and arguing with liberals is like arguing with a wax dummy.)

Can you get some ergotic acid? (none / 0) (#5)

I can problably find you a recipe that would perk you up, and it shouldn't be too hard since you're a chemist and all.

gcc is to software freedom as guns are to personal freedom.

2.5kg of ephedrine does the body good.

A tentative suggestion... (4.50 / 2) (#7)
by hauntedattics on Thu Oct 4th, 2001 at 10:54:41 AM PST
You mentioned that you really wouldn't mind seeing your office burn down. Is there a Milton-like character in your office who, with the right encouragement, could be induced to perform such an act? It would be someone in a dead-end job, sitting in the boiler room (or some such), who is obsessed with office supplies.

That way you wouldn't have to go to work, but then you wouldn't get thrown in the pokey for arson either.

Just a suggestion. Now can I please have my stapler back?
