Please indulge me. I am torn between some very nice instruments. I don't necessarily care if you know anything about guitar in general, because some of the concerns are logistical.

I want to get something a little different. I've been playing for around 8 years, and I have one archtop and one regular electric. So I need to diversify my stuff. Also, a guitar with more than six strings would be a nice challenge for me (not that I've mastered six--no one has).

	I am fascinated by that 11-string. I've never seen anything like it. I would pay money just to try it out. Are there any links to any songs played on it? I would like to see what this thing sounds like and what kind of music it can produce. My vote is definitely for the Timtone 11-string.

	The instrument sounded nice, and the guy has some skill, but the music was crap. What a waste. Maybe he should've bought ET toys instead. Cheers, GZ

	I agree about that 11-string demon. It looks oh-so-sweet. You might also want to look at megatars. Two-handed tapping! Very interesting. Oh, fanned frets aren't for increased accuracy, but for better bass notes. They make the bass strings a little longer and then fan the frets to make up the distance. I don't know much else. I don't know... if that's unobtainable, the Conklin looks good, too. Make sure whatever you purchase has a Feiten Tuning System. That 11-string thing will haunt me for months. Gravy! Cheers, GZ

	Keep in mind with the Feiten Tuning System that it is mathematically impossible to achieve pure intonation for every key with any kind of fixed pitch instrument, including all fretted instruments. The Feiten Tuning System is not, as may be gleaned by reading the homepage, nor could it be a fix for this problem. Rather, it is a complicated set of rules for constructing and tuning the guitar which results in what Feiten deems as an "extraordinarily pleasing intonation". A note a major 3rd above the root of any key would still have to be, on average, 14 cents sharp. That is a number far greater than any of the adjustments Feiten lays out in his patent application which makes me suspicious of the practicallity of using such a system. Besides, if such exacting control over the quality of the music is that important, it may be more worthwhile to look into fretless instruments.

	I'd probably go with the Conklin or the Novax. Fanned frets are kinda crazy but as gzt said, you can really getter a better base sound once you learn it (not speaking from personal experience mind you). I'm looking at alternative stuff at the moment too (custom slide guitars etc) and have been mucking around with all sorts of weird tunings. Good for expanding your range or style but not so great for having a jam with the crew! And the 11 string, wow, never seen something like that before, that's really getting into wacko territory. I hate tuning up so it would probably drive me nuts. Maybe you can help me out too, my electric collection currently stands at one crusty old Rockwood Hohner (no don't laugh). I had an Ibanez (ES series) back in the day when I thought power chords were the pinnacle of guitar playing. Then I got a Fender Telecaster, but now the cupboard is essentially bare. If I was to spend 3 or more G's on an electric right now, I'd be going straight for a PRS. Something like this would be sweet. Ever since playing a friend's PRS a few years back, I've wanted to get one.

	Maybe you can help me out too, my electric collection currently stands at one crusty old Rockwood Hohner (no don't laugh). Oh dear! I can only hope it's better quality than the Hohner acoustic I have. Thankfully, I don't need to use it now that I have a Fender DG3 acoustic, and Mex. Stratocaster electric. Not exactly THE pinnacle of guitar playing, but I'm very much an amateur and they see me through just fine. Talking of these guitars here, the 11-string one is kerrazee, but I like it's general style, it's nicer than the one at the top of the list (the standard 6-string).
