This is a Dislamer: Adequacy.org have not screened this diary entry and therefore I must stress that it may contain innaccuracies or blatent lies. A full disclaimer can be found at the end of this diary. I would put it here at the top but it's rather lengthy. Could some editor person make this red please (and blinking).

DIARY BEGINS

Recently im becoming suspicious that many people have multiple sign in names. I am mostly suspicious of the editors. Does anyone here admit to having more than one Adequacy account?

DIARY ENDS

Disclamer: This Diary Entry by The Owner [1] has not undergone Adequacy.org's usual Diary Screening Process (DSP) in which nothing lame and innacurate can pass. It has not been Adequacy.org Certified and Adequacy.org is not liable to any mental damage or condition which you may recieve while reading it. "Reading" means loaded into temporary memory or permanent storage in your brain. This Diary entry definitely does not represent the views or opinions of any Adequacy.org Members [2], Editors [3] or any Visitors [4]. In fact, none of the information in this diary could be found inside the heads of any Adequacy.org Member [2] or Editor [3] until they read this but it may be found in the heads of some Visitors [4].

This Diary has not been read or editted by anyone but me at the time of writing but it may be read or editted before I finish this disclaimer.
Adequacy.org cannot be responsible or take ownership for any innaccuracies, spelling mistakes or Lies [5] in this article as they are the sole property of me, PotatoError. All my Lies [5] are open source so you may use them if you want as long as you post this Disclaimer with them and pass the rights to the new owner and don't make a profit from them either.
My opinions may be wrong but this is not the fault of Adequacy.org as they have not applied their Usual Lengthy Screening Process (ULSP).
Read this entirely at your own risk. I take no responsibility for any deaths caused as a result of my "work". I will put a disclaimer at the top of the article too to make sure you read it first.

This disclaimer is not an official Adequacy.org disclaimer. It has not undergone Adequacy.org's usual Disclaimer Screening Process (DSP). Therefore the disclaimer itself may be innaccurate, wrong and contain Information which threatens National Security, but this isn't the fault of Adequacy.org. Also this disclaimer does not contain the views or opinions of Adequacy.org and Adequacy.org cannot be held responsible for any injuries you may sustain while reading it.

To prevent an endless ammount of disclaimers disclaiming disclaimers I will state that this disclaimer of the former disclaimer also covers itself. That is, this disclaimer of the disclaimer disclaims this disclaimer.

I have been informed that red blinking text doesn't display correctly on some Linux browsers, and is instead displayed as un-blinking black text. I've spoken to a number of kernel developers and they've informed me that this is because Linux is based on 1970's technology that pre-dates the invention of CGA graphics, and so Linux still doesn't offer full support for colour graphics.

I've therefore chosen to display your disclaimer in Nasty Green.

Adequacy.org - love it or leave it.

Luckily, Links doesn't render colors in so nasty way. Internet Exploder's[1] rendering was really awful[2] - I had to resort to my add-on for converting color schemes to black-on-ivory.

[1] Unofficial name of Microsoft Internet Explorer, derived from its tendency to unexpectedly bomb

[2] I mean *really* - I suppose it took quite a lot of effort to find the worst-readable green for the gray background.

Could you start keeping a diary, please? (none / 0) (#3)
by Anonymous Reader on Sun Jun 9th, 2002 at 07:36:23 PM PST
I think a lot of us have become fascinated by your accounts of the trivial things you do with your computers, and we'd like a regular (weekly? daily?) report on what you have done with your computing skillz, in excruciating detail if possible. Don't forget to mention every program you use, referring to any MS technologies using whichever tired puns first spring to mind. It would really help us understand how nerds are about to become the most important group in society. Thanks in advance.

You don't like? (none / 0) (#9)
by The Mad Scientist on Mon Jun 10th, 2002 at 06:37:03 AM PST
I originally intended to pursue academical career. I acquired the habit of document what setup was used in an experiment. This often turned to be a very useful habit. I just wish more people would do so (especially when reporting problems).

MS "technologies" are a joke gone bad. After all, what you can expect from something that is stolen and then botched.

You're welcome.

After all, what you can expect from something that is stolen and then botched.

Well it seems I can expect it to deliver the broadest integrated functionality and the fastest time to market for e-commerce systems and e-business analytics.

Mad "Scientist" I suggest you change your name to Mad Bigot. You clearly do not employ any scientific techniques in evaluating software companies, or you would realise that Microsoft is superior to Linux in every area that counts. In fact, according to independent research, "Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 is 2.5 times faster than Linux as a File Server and 3.7 times faster as a Web Server" (this was some time ago, I expect the gap has widened even further by now).

You can read more about just how good Microsoft products are here. Try not to cry as the dawning realization of Linux's utter uselessness hits you like an express train.

The Mindcraft study was widely discredited ages ago.

If you believe everything a vendor tells about their own products, and get crucial informations primarily from their own press releases, at the end you get only what you deserve.

No, a lot of lunix apologists blew a lot of hot air, but did not, in fact, discredit Mindcraft's scientific findings.

...were most likely rigged. And their results were already obsolete back then.

See here for an article examining the performance issues. 2.2 is old music though.

Also see here and here. And many more. *yawn*

And a nice example of online poll rigging.

Not entirely true (none / 0) (#4)

That may be true, but Nautilus, one of the most popular browsers for Linux does in fact display it correctly.

Don't confuse the issue with facts! They're not interested in anything that contradicts their carefully chosen opinions. Who needs accuracy when The Truth is being handed down?

First off Netscape is originally Unix/Linux technology. After all that's the platform they wrote it on.

Secondly I've viewed this and the last diary posted by PotatoError and neither on my MS Internet Explorer version 6.0.2600.0000 were viewable as blinking text. So do us all a favor and just leave the disclaimer in italics or bold or something.

Konqueror supports red text OK. It is just the bkink tag that isn't supported.

by Narcissus on Mon Jun 10th, 2002 at 11:57:54 AM PST
but one of them I made right before this one I use now. This rogue screen name wouldnt let me confirm it so I had to establish a new account.

By the way if any editors actually read my comments could you possibly delete this bad account ... the email for it is n4rc1ssus@attbi.com, If you would like just send me an email and I can reply to it so you know it really is mine.
