Such consistent assumption of the role of the reactionary does little to disabuse the bourgeoisie of its ingrown stereotypes, Ivan.

But you probably knew that.

Seems to me that Hugh Laurie got all the best lines in that show, particularly during the Regency/George IV series.

Or Stakker Humanoid's 1989 effort "Humanoid", or Bassomatic's "Fascinating Rhythm".

That probably narrows down my age somewhat.

Especially the Inner City track - all time classic "Magic" Juan Atkins production just missed going in my poll, I've got all the ones you mentioned in my collection...

Did Stakker Humanoid turn into FSOL? (none / 0) (#11)

Even if they didn't, I heard they released a new album under a pseudonym. Anyone know if that's true, what it's called and if it's any good?

was the gentleman in Stakker Humanoid, and also part of FSOL.

I suspect he/they has released a fair bit of stuff under various names (and some recent remixes - e.g., FSOL's "Papua New Guinea"); maybe some up-to-date kiddies can point you in the right direction.

The Shamen. Perhaps not the most outright house/rave group, but certainly one of the most controversial. Who can forget Ebeneezer Goode, the rave anthem that put the word 'Ecstasy' on every parent's tongue and made them swallow?

I remember the Shamen when they were a jangly guitar band. I've got the Christopher Mayhew Says single at home. I've also got Aphex Twin's Didgeridoo. He keeps asking for it back, but I pretend I'm out.
A couple of me fave rave tunes are: Jaydee; Plastic Dreams, Joey Beltram; Energy Flash, Orbital's Chime, & Underworld's Cowgirl - blinding!!

See, I was a real man, and spent my city-centre time frequenting the union, Archie Simpsons, Drummonds, the Wild Boar and Ma Camerons. I went to The Works once to see my mates gig there, if that counts for anything.

Ha! Ma Camerons... (none / 0) (#22)
by gordonjcp on Wed Aug 14th, 2002 at 01:31:36 AM PST
RGIT Union, or posh wanky Aberdeen Uni Union?

I engineered for a band that played in Drummonds once, called Symbiosis. An ironic name, because they fell out seriously after their first and only gig, and would only speak to each other through me for about 6 months after. They were warming up for a band called The Warmth, who nicked all our decent leads, the bastards.

The Works used to be a bike pub, didn't it? It was called something else then but the name escapes me.

Oh, and let's not forget Simpsons, now the Triple Kirks. So many pubs, so many partial memories...
