Has anyone made one of those 88 x 31 banners for Adequacy yet?

I am removing the banner to kuro5hin.org from my homepage because I can no longer bear to look at or support that site in any way, shape, or form. I would like to replace it, but I don't see a graphic anywhere here.

...it would be a good idea to link to that banner somewhere prominent on the site, so that interested people can easily find out about it? I remember that you drew that a while back, but I had no idea that it stil existed.

Are you implying that Jin Wicked's diary is not a high visibility location?

Of course not... (none / 0) (#4)
by iat on Thu Sep 13th, 2001 at 11:25:10 PM PST
But her diary would get pretty boring if she had to ask that same question every time other people posted diaries and inconsiderately pushed the link to the banner off the front page.

I absolutely refuse to put that image into the page footers.

btw, somebody should pester Rusty or Driph for a Scoop logo with transparency, since I'm too lazy to do a good job of knocking out the white myself.

Has the "Microsoft BSD" logo gone for good now?

I'm not sure what happened to the original once that... other image replaced it. Jelerial probably still has a copy.

Also: Reachable from the meta page.

Just a brief comment ... (none / 0) (#8)

... addressed to three Anonymous Readers (or maybe one Anonymous Reader with three IP numbers, I dunno).

There is really no point in posting nasty things about Jin Wicked during night-time USian, as it is daytime UKian, and adequacy> has three UK-based editors on duty, all of whom are keeping an eye on these diaries.

Nasty things written about Jin during daytime USian will also be deleted on sight, of course, btw.

And while we're on the subject of defending Miss Wicked from her detractors, I'd like to request that readers refrain from moderating her comments down on principle. Abuse of the moderation system is a terrible and cowardly thing to do - if I catch anyone else doing it, I will punish you by moderating to zero or deleting your comments! Let this be a warning. I am sure that one of my fellow editors will also do everything in his power to defend the woman that he loves. In future, I expect you all to play nicely with Jin and to stop being so unkind. Thank you.

IAT is of course joking, or indulging in a bit of editorial "locker room banter"; there is no favouritism on adequacy.org, and sexism is not tolerated. What he means, of course, is that while we do not play favourites, we are aware that, for reasons relating to other websites, some of our users tend to draw a little bit more hostile attention or "flak" than others. In the interests of promoting free and open debate on adequacy, we will ruthlessly and with extreme prejudice delete, IP-ban and TOS anyone who attempts to intimidate our posters. The difference between this attempt to preserve the integrity of our forum and garden-variety censorship should be obvious.

Is "locker room banter" that thing they do at UKian public schools, where everyone runs around the showers naked and cracks each other on the arse with towels? I'm sure it was never my intention to indulge in any of that.

and deleted 4 comments from this diary already. Well done, any criticism of Jin is obviously because she is a female who knows her own mind, and not due to any attempt at unbiased criticism. Adequacy is always proud to give a home to controversial opinions and figures, where said ideas can be argued on their merits.

Perhaps we should be looking at IP bans for frequent offendors, in the interests of freedom of speech.

About the best thing we have... (none / 0) (#14)

This is the best image we have right now.

If you'd like one of a different size (perhaps standard banner?) we must drive zikzak, our resident artfag, to create one for us.

Of course, you're always welcome to come up with something of your own, if you have the interest.
