So I was trying so hard to read the constantly scrolling #kuro5hin window that my main window was minimized and I didn't see your message about IMF. Like I said, the mayor only mentioned he may ask for the cancellation of the conference, but even if he does that, I'm sure they don't have to listen to him. Security will be tight as a drum due to the events of today, though. For anybody that comes to D.C. to protest the IMF if/when it happens, I'd suggest not reaching for your wallet or anything else in your pockets unless you want to get a cap popped in you by the police. |

That said, I actually think the D.C. police are not overly violent, especially when considered with those in adjacent Prince George's County, MD, where they seem to enjoy demonstrating their ability to shoot unarmed suspects in the back due to circumstances like a butter knife being within reach or a wheelchair-bound suspect being perceived as reaching for a gun while sitting on his own front porch. |
