So I was trying so hard to read the constantly scrolling #kuro5hin window that my main window was minimized and I didn't see your message about IMF. Like I said, the mayor only mentioned he may ask for the cancellation of the conference, but even if he does that, I'm sure they don't have to listen to him. Security will be tight as a drum due to the events of today, though. For anybody that comes to D.C. to protest the IMF if/when it happens, I'd suggest not reaching for your wallet or anything else in your pockets unless you want to get a cap popped in you by the police.

Dear My Diary,

That said, I actually think the D.C. police are not overly violent, especially when considered with those in adjacent Prince George's County, MD, where they seem to enjoy demonstrating their ability to shoot unarmed suspects in the back due to circumstances like a butter knife being within reach or a wheelchair-bound suspect being perceived as reaching for a gun while sitting on his own front porch.

Who knows, now? The conference may be put off or cancelled for purely logistical reasons. There are something like 35,000 airplane flights a day in the US, and nobody knows when some sort of normal schedule will resume. I would think it may take too long for them to catch up, especially since we don't even know when flights will begin again. Mayor Williams may not have to ask them to cancel or postpone. They might be forced.
