Well (5.00 / 1) (#1)

It's nice to see some christmas decorations up around adequacy, and I'm not even going to complain that other myths are not represented. However, I do not like the santa image for the diaries.

Am I the only one who has noticed that Adequacy is now advertising coca~cola? That's where our modern view of the old fat bugger comes from. Not only does this image used the modern view of santa, it is actually a reproduction of one of those very same adverisments. What is going on here? When I log on tomorrow will I see the nike swoosh at the top of the page? Maybe it's just an accident, but it's rather disturbing. Maybe we're the subjects of some subliminal advertising.

What is this place coming to?

As a child I wanted to know everything. Now I miss my ignorance.

Ewwww, really... (none / 0) (#2)

It appears that XMas somehow managed to throw up all over Adequacy... It's garish, annoying and quite possibly migraine-inducing. Also, I'm ever-so-slightly worried about the subliminal effects of those wretched flashing lights, all things considered.

RE: Santa -- Here's my favorite alternate representation of the old gent, used without permission:

Nicholas Was...

Older than sin, and his beard could grow no whiter. He wanted to die.

The dwarfish natives of the Arctic caverns did not speak his language, but conversed in their own twittering tongue, conducting incomprehensible rituals when they were not actually working in the factories.

Once every year they forced him, sobbing and protesting, into Endless Night. During the journey he would stand near every child in the world, leave one of the dwarves' invisible gifts by its bedside. The children slept, frozen in time.

He envied Prometheus and Loki, Sisyphus and Judas. His punishment was harsher.

Ho.
Ho.
Ho.

Me, I'm gonna spend XMas & New Year's with Shoeboy... and that's what makes it a wonderful life, at least for me. Happy Winter Solstice, y'all.

Not only that, but I'm touching myself. I'd invite you to view the webcast, but it's an adeqaucy.org premium feature that is only available to paid subscribers. And editors of course.

I just finished John Gardener's "On Becoming a Novelist"

Really looking forward to New Years as well (actually, I look forward to any time with you)

I'd address the xmas decorations, but I'm posting this using a text only browser and have no Idea what you're talking about.

Are you adequate?

But why... (none / 0) (#4)

would I be interested in some half-assed webcast when I can enjoy the real thing live & in person? (All puns intended, of course!) I guess it goes with the territory of the editorial status to prefer the virtual to the real; c'est la vie.
