I have a certain degree of power on this website that was bestowed upon me for what are, at best, arbitrary reasons. The proper use of power is to wield it gently, always being aware of how your elevated status, no matter how insignificant, can be abused. Power brings a certain, unavoidable sense of responsibility with it. To act with disregard torwards that responsibility always ends badly for the tyrant.

But the tyrant sure can have a lot of fun in the meantime!

I will continue to harass people on this website who irritate me through their actions. And until my editorial powers are stripped from me (which I assure you is quite possible), I will also continue to abuse those powers in service of my harassment. You are free to petition for my removal.

Children:
There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall
And the bells in the steeple too
And up in the nursery an absurd little bird
Is popping out to say "cuckoo"
     Marta, Gretl, Brigitta:
     Cuckoo, cuckoo

Children:
Regretfully they tell us
     Marta, Gretl, Brigitta:
     Cuckoo, cuckoo
But firmly they compel us
     Marta, Gretl, Brigitta:
     Cuckoo, cuckoo
To say goodbye . . .
     Marta, Gretl, Brigitta:
     Cuckoo!
. . . to you.

Bridge

Children:
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night
Marta:
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight
Marta skips upstairs to playful music

Children:
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu
Friedrich:
Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu
Friedrich skips upstairs to playful music

Children:
So long, farewell, au revoir, auf wiedersehen
Liesl:
I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne
     Liesl to the Captain:
     Yes?
     The Captain:
     No.
Liesl pouts and goes upstairs

Children:
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye
Kurt:
I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye -- Goodbye!
Kurt goes upstairs
Brigitta:
I'm glad to go, I cannot tell a lie
Brigitta goes upstairs
Louisa:
I flit, I float, I fleetly flee, I fly
Louisa goes upstairs
Gretl Tired and singing slowly as she backs up the stairs on her little rump:
The sun has gone to bed and so must I
Gretl falls asleep on the stairs, Liesl comes down to collect her

Children:
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye
Children wave to guests
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Guests Waving back:
Goodbye!

Believe me, the more the rabble learns of the intrigue, infighting, squabbling, and petty grievance of the editors, the better. It's terrific entertainment.

This little attempt to give your personal "editorial stance" a public vetting is a nice first step; I do hope that visible full-scale editorial brawls will soon follow.

Oh, I almost forgot-- thanks for getting rid of Inden. I didn't want to resort to referring to the primates of Madagascar.

I do not see the problem here. (5.00 / 1) (#3)

What is wrong with dictatorial editorial policies on a *personal* web site? The way I see it, strict *personal* control of content only serves to promote democracy and a wide range of views -- simply because if not curtailed, groupthink tends to fill all available space. Witness Slashdumb.org and gibbering-gibbons.org. There should be more sites with stricter control; that way, we can pick-and-choose the information we want, including controversial views that might be shunned in "society".

As an editor with similar problems as Zikzak, I completely agree with your statements.

At some point though, the overly-left wing ran editorial staff will boot us off of here, and drive us from this site like the right-wing dogs we are.

Ahh well.

As a member of the moral community, I have always been a bit disturbed by the leftivist editorial imbalance on Adequacy.org. However, I am heartened a bit to realize that the moderation queue remains open to all editors, not just the liberal ones. Therefore I do not forsee a future in which your doom-and-gloom scenario will come to fruition, unless the current policy changes. If that happens there will be hell to pay.

Is there no place for right-thinking individuals? (5.00 / 1) (#8)

I have high hopes that I would use this site to open the eyes of the fuzzy minded secular humanists, but I fear that many of the editors (particularly those of an English nature) may attempt to thwart my plans (as one Welsh editor is want to do). Please. like minded editors, let us keep our eyes open for a fallback site, and fight the good fight in the meantime.

You mean "is wont to", not "is want to."

in the diaries.

I think inden and monogram should have their IP addresses banned for a week.

(iden says he won't be back but i don't trust him one little bit. he should have his IP banned for a month just to keep him honest)
