What mental illness do you have?
Make me sick.

The people that run, edit, and in general participate in this site are the very dregs of the Discordian world. I can picture all of you, let's say, at a party.

First off there's a string quartet playing the corner of a fairly large ballroom, with a champagne fountain ready for dipping and sipping not far away. In walks in a bunch of obviously British wankers, all very pale and pasty and barely dressed properly in their tuxes. They mingle with the crowd and begin lying to people about their professions. Doctors, lawyers, engineers, judges, mathematicians all are they, at least in claim.

But we know the truth. They're a bunch of slobs who dressed for the occasions (now the analogy brakes down for we know no one of them wil venture outside, let alone to a party).

Next walks in the lovely Perdida, ready to push her socialist ideals onto mush-brained party-goers. "This gov't might as well get taken advantage of, they rape us daily!" she says, as several fuddy-duddy old ladies gasp and glance this way and that. She continues on with several conspiracy theories regarding the War on Terrorism, CNN, and right-wing politicians and finally ends the night drunk and crying about her place in the economy, her dress in tatters from having left the party for a half hour to plant a car bomb.

Oh! And here we have the American (God please blind me if I am ever again to see the phrase "USian." It reeks so strongly of pomp and arrogance I cry at night) band of Adequoids stumble into the party (already drunk), complaining about unusual Washington weather, Microsoft, and foot fetishes. They see their UK brethren already there and toast each other ("to our brothers across the pond," too bad the Third Reich did not sew salt into English soil!) and begin talking about technology to the rich old farts and retarded young men they see around them.

Now comes probably the worst part-- the masses of adoring, emulating, slobbering fans who want to be just like their poorly-chosen idols. Like any (l)user newbies, they get thrown out of the party when the Adequoids see them approaching with their rough approximations of the art. The'll blow the Adequoids' cover! Well, not exactly. Because anyone with even a half a brain or some part of their asshole wired to their head would not be fooled by the sewer-dwellers this site is a home for.

Bah! I wish all of you would wake up and scripflood this site or troll it to death or (here's a novel idea) just quit reading it! You're all getting fooled, because even if you read or post to this site knowing it's 100% bullshit, you're still playing into their hand!

Wake up, people! Don't come to Adequacy anymore! It's time grow the fuck up and read a real site! Get lives! Don't feed the egos here! Don't give them the satisfaction! Jesus fucking Christ!

Thank you

I've alsways just assumed that all females who use the internet look like that. A woman worth looking at would obviously be too busy doing things that make her look pretty (working out, shopping, not eating...) to learn how to use the internet.

Oh no no no. Do not lump me in with those people. It insults me and annoys them. Adequacy is just a microcosm in a vast, wide world of trivia, minutae and assorted dementia. I keep coming back here because I subscribe to the philosophy of "don't give the buggers satisfaction." I will leave here, not be chased off.

I accept the compliment while ignoring the insult because I figured it would be polite. Your feelings are hurt and you're lashing out in response, so why exacerbate the problem? Unlike the rest of the "Adequacy slags" (I like the phrase, incidentally) I acknowledged the insult without defending or returning it in kind.

Try Rimfire Central if you shoot smallbores or squirrel hunt. Jouster has some good spots if you are into old military arms like the M1 Garand.

Accurate Reloading covers all your load work-up needs. The NWTF has a good turkey hunting forum at this address.

That'll get you started, let me know if you need any others.

For your political needs, try Christian Gallery, although I think they may have shut down their forums.

Good luck and let me know if you need others.

You missed one valid criticism of this site. They're a bunch of fucking IP thieves. When Forum 2000 imploded, leaving the neural net's security compromised, the hackers descended like a hailstorm and stripped out the source code for the SOMADs. Adequacy.org acquired one of these SOMADs on the software black market and is currently using it to drive AUTOLINK. I'd recognize the work of Bitter Crack Baby anywhere.

Editors, I implore you, return the SOMAD to its rightful owner immediately, before the bodies start showing up. Believe me, you DON'T know what you're dealing with.

It's more liberal revisionist history for those nontraditionalists who feel the need to remind people that "AMERICA IS MORE THAN A NATION, IT'S A CONTINENT." I don't give a shit of you're offended or not. It's a nice bonus but I can live without it.

As for your "projection" theory-- all I'm projecting towards you or Adequacy in general is hatred, generated from my having been around all of you so much. It's nothing internal in me. I think maybe you want to avoid blame and so spout this "projection" bullshit. I won't hear anymore of it.

The onlything challenging and emotional is you-- you seem to be full of peace and a dsire to help someone else, which are indivitive of not feeling adequate (CERTAINLY no pun intended, you societal rejects!) and needing to please someone else to please yourself.

I am quite happy on my own and actually feel better when I do things for myself. That's not to say I don't enjoy sex with ladies.

this temper tantrum, Trollaxor? Really, there are much more effective ways to get attention or whatever else it is that you're seeking. You're obviously overcome by anger or frustration as you write; are you overtired, hungry, or simply very excited right now? Would a nap help to settle you? Can you go to your "loving place" for a while to calm down a bit?

Denial can be such a tragic roadblock in anyone's efforts for personal growth, Trollaxor. I have faith, however, that you'll be able to come to terms with your feelings of alienation -- you'll be able to reach out for the love you need instead of flailing about, pushing it away because it frightens you so. And when you're ready, we'll be here for you, I promise.

Oh, and she'd make short work of Ms. Portman. I'd say Natalie'd be bone dry after 5 minutes alone with Manuela. So who's girl is better now?

by chloedancer on Fri Feb 1st, 2002 at 01:25:08 PM PST
however, I'd suggest that what we're really dealing with here is a batch of toxic emotional slugs that have taken up residence in your heart. To illustrate this point, I have a little poem I'd like to share with you:

Slug-Trails

I refuse the refuse you effuse
leaving trails of emotional damage behind
oozing out
like slime from slugs
slug-trails
that shine quicksilver in the morning sun
but you wouldn't want to touch them

If you'd like some help exorcising the nasty little slugs of self-doubt and hurt from your soul, all you need to do is ask -- be brave, little buddy! I've got my salt shaker right here -- let's dissolve your angst, confusion, fear and disappointment together, shall we?

Maybe then you'd welcome that hug I offered earlier, hmm?

I'm really, really sorry that your Mom apparently hung you up on a coat rack, once, but now it's up to you to move beyond this "farging icehole" state of being where you've become so hopelessly and tragically mired...

I know you can do it, Trollaxor. You're good enough and smart enough and, well, goshdarnit, the fine folks here at Adequacy really do like you -- isn't that what you've really been seeking with this cry for attention, after all? We all need validation every now and again, whether we realize it or not -- and I just want you to know that you have mine.

All better now, sweetie?

Nothing can stop me now.
You know, during my mid teens I loved a certain album by Nine Inch Nails, which is where I believe you derived that little line. Self oblivion, blackness of soul, all that jive. Then I got a girlfriend, had lots of good sex for a couple of years and eventually split up because I learnt that its better to be single than to go out with someone whos fucking insane. I'm now 20, single and unemployed but generally cheery and happy about life, which is what matters really.

So, I suppose my message to you is to go out and have lots of sex. Maybe with someone who you can delude yourself that you love for a while, or maybe with lots of different people. Get out all that stress and angst that's been building up inside of you all your teenage years. You'll feel much much better after, really.

But then you say you don't like it and you want to leave. Where the hell is that coming from? First you tell us how great we are, and then you're like "and that's why it sucks and everyone should go!"

Can you connect the dots here? Do you dislike it because it is so good? That's weird, but if that's how you want it to be, okay, I guess. Just don't expect me to understand.

he's saying Adequacy editors and their groupies are positively dreamy, but he requires a firm grounding amongst the ordinary masses. Spending time around people as radiant and beautiful as yourself would simply be unbearable. Especially, considering how good you look outside of a tuxedo, just imagine how drug-like a tuxedu-clad you would be. Some people can't handle drugs. He may be avoiding seizures.

Actually, it's well-known that any man looks good in a tuxedo, unless he weighs 500 pounds and looks like Chewbacca.

Although, come to think of it, Chewbacca might look really good in a tux too.

Agreed. Most men look good in tuxedos. My point was that considering how stunning this particular man looks in standard rags, the application of a tuxedo to his form might be absolutely mind shattering. However, now that I think about it, it might end up reducing him to merely looking "good", which would be a travesty.

As a proud tuxedo-owner, I look for any excuse to put it on. I would be quite glad to fill out the crowd of United States of American Adequacyians.

Actually, this site is rather entertaining (2.50 / 2) (#59)
by Anonymous Reader on Fri Feb 1st, 2002 at 06:16:42 PM PST
Believe it or not this site is entertaining and thought provoking. Sometimes both at the same time, although sometimes it's neither. I know I'm not alone in this, for some reason I'm good friends with a whole bunch of philosophers who think this place has its merits (although none of them post).

As for your party analogy, well, I'd just like to say that I make a point of turning up at posh party's in shabby clothes, and I never lie about my job status (I'm unemployed). Long hair, left wing, I'm sure you can imagine =). However, I do fail to see how this is a bad thing. To be sure certain people here are operating under pseudonym's and have also established themselves as charicatures of a sort, but again I dont see how this is a bad thing. If you read what people say and evaluate their arguments on their merit whilst at the same time taking into account that persons views and values - be they real or fictitous - then you might learn something new.

Basically I dont think it matters wether or not the powers that run this site are doing it just for kicks, to troll the users as it were. I read Adequacy for my own reasons, because there are sometimes real diamonds here. I think it's always nice to see different points of view, which probably explains why, from time to time, I've been known to read the Daily Mail...

No, it's not American (1.00 / 1) (#61)

While I agree with almost the whole of this diary (I only read Adequacy once in a while for a good laugh at the sort of misinformed individuals that post their "stories" here), I do think the term "USasian" is as accurate a way to refer to a citizen of the United States of American as can be. In fact, refering to a citizen of the United States as an American is pretty much a slap in the face to every "Indian" - after all, how many Indians died while your "Americans" were giving their lives for their country? But technically, yes, a citizen of the United States is an American. However, he/she is also a USasian. An American can be a Candian, a Brazilian, a Mexican, etc. A USasian can't. And I don't see how you can think the term USasian is arrogant. If anything, the term American is. After all, the term American implies that only citizens of the USA are true Americans, while the USasians doesn't.

"USasian" sounds to me like it only covers a percentage of Americans. What about the rest of us whose ancestors came from Europe, Africa and elsewhere?
