a quote:

"We are not a young people with an innocent record and a scanty inheritance. We have engrossed to ourselves...an altogether disproportionate share of the wealth and traffic of the world. We have got all that we want in territory, and our claim to be left in the unmolested enjoyment of vast and splendid possessions, mainly acquired by violence, largely maintained by force, often seems less reasonable to others than to us."

- Winston Churchill
(quoted in Clive Ponting's Churchill)

An observation:
I am in a rage
jsm is back!
Hey! Are you desperately tedious? Is your life desperately tedious?
We don't yet seem to have a convenient shorthand for Tuesday's attacks in the way that 'the Oklahoma bombing' or 'the Rodney King beating' simply became the name for those particular events. People seem to be trying for 'the WTC bombing', but that's both inaccurate and already taken. 'The WTC attack' doesn't seem dramatic enough, and 'Black Tuesday' is simply rubbish.

Maybe America needs to hire a PR firm. They could sort out a logo and a jingle at the same time.

Stop your USian egocentrism for a goddamn minute, and see that your stupid "suffering" is nothing compared to what billions of people all over the world endure every single day. The fact that USians got a shock doesn't change a fucking thing in the world.

It's this kind of attitude that makes us Americans (NOT USians, you iliterate) so angry. We've been keeping the peace in the world for the last fifty years, and how are we repaid? In hatred and terrorist attacks. Well - no more. If President Bush has to level all the nations from Spain to Japan to make the world safe for civilised people, then so be it.

The rest of the world started this rush to barbarism. Now we, as Americans, must finish it.
