 A much more complex announcement

Due to some rather immature actions on behalf of the site's admin(elby) I will not be returning to ths site to post anymore (except maybe to refute what is said in this thread). I suggest all of you due the same.
The first and foremost reason I will not be returning is due to a diary entry, claimed to be made by extarbags. This entry was in fact butchered beyond recognition by the site's operator, elby. This can be seen by the edited by elby remark here. You can find what's left of the interaction that caused this action here. That is providing the moderator(elby) did not delete what's left. Additionally, the quality of articles on this site are horrendous. Unless they are meant to entertain because of their stupidity, they seem to be nothing more than the trolls that escaped Slashdot and Kuro5hin. They make outrageous claims without having any type of proof to back them up. Any proof that they present in the articles I would not doubt if further investigation showed that it was made up. I've shown our side of the story, now I will let you judge for yourself. As for this site, it might as well be named Adequacy: news for adults run by children.

Excellent points! (5.00 / 1) (#1)

Anyone out there who is like kezgin or extarbags, I encourage you to please leave and never come back. If you have your head so far up your ass that you can't enjoy this site, why the hell did you stick around in the first place?

You do realize I didn't have to put the edited remark there, right? I could have made it look like he said it, but I thought it would be amusing to change it and leave a not that it had been edited for clarity and content.

I'm sorry if we can't agree. But if we can't agree, I'm not sorry you're leaving. Tootles.

Well my reasoning was this (none / 0) (#2)

The first couple of stories I read, were interesting and spurred some good discussion. The stories seemed to slowly go downhill into just complete ramblings by zealot like people. So I was enjoying the site as a debate forum until completely off the wall topics with no realistic information backing them up began to enter the arena.
As for not needing to put the edit mark in there, however you get your jollies, I hope you enjoy them.
The simple fact that you are happy that we can't agree shows that you really don't care too much about the discussion/debate that would undoubtedly occur when the topics include those that "don't quite fit the norm". You'd probably be better off just getting rid of the whole community part of this site, since you obviously don't care to hear people's opinions that are different from your own. You'd more than likely rather just get reinforcement from the select few that do agree with you than have you beliefs openly challenged.

And if this site is meant to be humorous, don't mislead people into thinking that it is a serious discussion site, because then stuff like this happens.

Make a difference in our society. End it.

Why can't it be both? (none / 0) (#3)

As for the alleged "quality" problems of the site, we've written a number of articles ahead of time, and we're posting them a few at a time now. There has been no major change in editorial policy between yesterday and today.
And if this site is meant to be humorous, don't mislead people into thinking that it is a serious discussion site, because then stuff like this happens.
Humor can spark serious discussion and serious discussion can spark humor. They're not mutually exclusive, and we're not aiming particularly strongly in one direction or another. Heaven forbid there should be variety. :)

The thing that I don't care about is not that we don't agree, it's that you and your friend have been quite the assholes about the whole thing, although admittedly your friend more than you.

He posted a comment that was completely useless, attacking authors here, so we deleted it. Then he posts again with a "f1rst p0st f4gg0rts!@!!!" post. If anyone is acting like an idiot here, it's certainly not on the editorial side.

I have more to say, and if you're interested hop onto IRC, if you're not interested then it's really quite pointless for me to be spending more time on it anyway. But I don't really want to continue the conversation here, this is more than enough meta-content to last us for quite some time.
