I'd liker to extend a warm welcome to all the refugees from kuro5hin.org, and lay down a few ground rules.

Hello kuro5hin refugees, welcome to adequacy.

I know how some people get devoted to these weblogs, and while we are nothing like kuro5hin, I'd like to hope your stay here is enjoyable, and perhaps some of you may stay permanently.

There are some ground rules though, things that are different here than at kuro5hin.

  1. We don't tolerate trolling.
  2. Controversial opinions are welcomed, but be prepared, you msut be willing to defend them,and your logic must be meritrocious.
  3. There is a strong Christian presence here, unlike Slashdot. Mostly heretics,but there are a few members of the true Church. And we're not afraid to argue, if we hope it will lead a sinner to God.
  4. Technophilic solutions as worshipped at kuro5hin are laughed at, please don't think any world problem can be solved by technology.

Please, enjoy your stay.

He might wanted to also add, that unlike K5, Adequacy is vigorously edited. So be prepared. It might sting a little, when you first have a commente edited, or even deleted. But really, just try to fit in. The editors are really the only thing that keeps this place interesting, and keeps it from degrading into a democracy. (Which might be fine for boring things like a government, but isn't all that fun for a website).

Do you really think it would have been appropriate for a movie targeted towards children to include the parts where the main character goes and royally fucks up everything about the wonderful fantasy world he has discovered? That's not very wholesome family entertainment, you know.

This website enjoys insulting its denizens. The editors believe they are superior because it is their website after all so they feel free to violate normal courtesy standards toward those whose opinions irritate, bore, fail to amuse, or just cause it's fun for them to do so sometimes. Be prepared for that in advance. I wasn't.
