How long will people remember this, really? We as a people have a habit of forgetting the past, even when the past is yesterday. It seems strange that just over a week ago the US people were terrified of sharks, now that fear is almost forgotten as they now place this fear in terrorism. This one looks like it could stay in the news a bit longer, especially if Bush's 'Campaign' is truely that, and stretches into months or years. However, it won't last forever.

I've already gotten on with my life. Bad Things happen, life goes on. I wen't grocery shopping over the weekend, spent time with my fiancee, and watched a movie. (Why couldn't they have bombed Hollywood? It's been at least a few months since I've seen anything half decent come from there....)I went to work yesterday, and there was little if any discussion on the events of last tuesday, which is suprising considering we are a defense contractor. So far today has been just like any other pre-911 day, something I think most people who don't live or work in Manhattan are probably experiencing.

So what next? It looks like there's going to be plenty of violence in the near future, which is sure to attract the press, but for the rest of us, it should be business as usual. Reservists and active duty military will of course be the exception, but I'm refering to civilians. Things will pretty much go back to normal for everyone not directly affected by the tragedy and the resulting backlash. Not to say that we as individuals won't forget it, we will just move on with our lives, and the media will look for a new dead horse to beat to death.
