The King of the Patato-People has got me down!
You think you know me? You don't know me. You will never know me! Ah, can't get that song from "Edge and Christian" out of my head. ;)

Anyway yes I've been depressed and suicidal. I created this personality to escape my mental problems for a bit, so I am now a Space Pirate from thousands of years in the future somewhere in the Spinward Marches, lost in space, on the run from The Imperium in Traveller. Anyone else play Role Playing Games to escape from reality?

Reminds me of something (5.00 / 1) (#1)

Sometime in the 40's there was a sublimely gifted physicist (ex-Alomos etc) who went a little doolally and believed that he was from a Sci Fi future.

He was referred to a psychologist, who in the fashionable (particularly then) days of Freud decided to enter his dreams and belief system, which was very convincing in its completeness. Eventually the psychologist seemed to believe all the stuff himself, and the physicist and he would share marvellous adventures among the stars, until wracked by guilt the physicist confessed that he had made all the twaddle up and was worried for his psycholgist's mental health.

Unfortunately this gifted particle physicists designs for warp drives and so forth never survived, which is a pity because I am sure they would be interesting.

♥, bc.

it all sounds great, but how long before we get the tech to build a Warp drive or even a Jump (nee Hyperspace) drive? About the year 2300AD if Traveller is to be believed, the invention of the Jump drive.
