No wonder it gets so confusing about whose hand is up whose ass.

He's got a good cause. Leave him alone.

Assuming you're talking about the Elmo™ muppet™, you should have said "It's got a good cause. Leave it alone.".

Anything more than that would be anthropomorphisation.

would be anthropomorphization since the muppet would still have a cause.

"America - quite unwell?" ... Seeing that I was expecting a nice good helping of cynicism and depressing analysis of America and the decline of Western Civilization.

And what do I get?

Some shit about Elmo.

Goddamit. You bastard. I hate you so much.

That must have been annoying. (none / 0) (#7)

Sorry you feel misled. I did think of this as yet another bizarre example in the "end of the Roman empire" maxi-series that is America. I suppose I could have drawn parallels between a '3 year-old' puppet giving evidence, and the educational level of the rhetoric we currently have from George W. (The "Axis of Evil", the "Evildoers" etc).

We could also see this a deepening of the mix between Hollywood and 'the corridors of power', which is turning everything into Disneyland. We already know that Hollywood panders to the Pentagon. And now how Hollywood is helping them out with possible 'terror scripts'. It just looks like the disease is spreading. But by going on and pointing out this, I feel like I'd be muscling in on Michael Moore's turf, and that bothers me as much as Elmo.

Further evidence... (none / 0) (#8)

In breaking news, three teenage boys caught with Viagra at a school in the United States are now facing criminal charges. A 12-year-old boy took seven Viagra tablets to his Baltimore high school and distributed them among his friends.

According to the report, the drug is normally used to stimulate erectile function in older men and is not normally required by teenage boys.

I guess it's better taking Viagra to school than handguns, but it's still pretty f(*ked up.
