 Raving paranoid readers

So, suppose you figured out a way to hack Adequacy.org and post a diary as "Anonymous Reader".

This is disturbing.
So, we close the hole. Not because we feel oh-so threatened about it, but because a couple of childish fools want to follow suit. As a side effect of closing the hole, you the exploiter find out that you can't post anymore. Instead of emailing one of us, you whine about it in a different site, which we might or might not read frequently. (I'd suggest the answer "not" in the case of a relevant Adequacy editor.) To which you, luckily enough, manage to get a reply that, despite the wholly inadequate description of the problem, gives the fix, and requests more information in email in case the problem persists. What do you do?

Certainly not try out the proposed fix right away and email if it doesn't work. You accuse Adequacy of "conspiring" against you. Later, though, you do try the fix and find out it works. Whether this results in a red face is not known, but seems doubtful considering the following.

In the meantime, an Adequacy admin, looking through referrer logs, finds an eaxct mirror of an Adequacy diary, with no information anywhere indicating who is doing the mirroring, and sends off a standard notice to the webmaster@ address of the site with the mirror. This, unbeknownst to the admin (and how would he know? There is no fucking contact info!), is your diary and your site. A site for which there is no discernible contact information (oh, sorry if I didn't spend half a fucking hour looking for it. Put it at the bottom of every fucking page, we have better things to do than read your site). After trying a pair of webmaster@ addresses, the admin gives up trying to guess it and emails the technical contact from the whois record, who forwards you the email.

So, what is the rational course of action? To respond to the email, or to whine and moan about it in somebody's diary? If you are a raving delusional paranoid freak, you'd do the latter right?

Lessons: we are not out to get you. Your sense of self-importance is obviously inflated. More importantly, respond to emails that we fucking send you instead of whining about it.

As it stands, you have reproduced the Adequacy.org page design without permission. You may start by emailing our legal address (it's at the bottom of every page in our site! How convenient! Why don't you try it on your site!) and asking under what conditions you could reproduce it for your mirror of your diary.

Terrorism of the vilest sort on the one hand, and so hopeless and pathetic on the other that you can only feel the lowest contempt and scornful pity. We have recently been on the recieving end of attacks and critiques whose nature brings to mind the image of an inept bungler desperately trying to ignite the shoddy bomb he made out of his basketball shoes.

You almost feel sorry enough to want to hand them a blasting cap, or a spell checker, as the case may be, just because the poor bastard is such a lousy excuse for an adversary.

We HAVE been far too easy on them, and it has made them soft. To the next reader who wants to take on Adequacy.org, I have only one thing to say: you slimy worm, you sad sack, that shoe of yours BETTER GODDAMN WELL EXPLODE, you fucker, because if it doesn't, you will PAY! YOU WILL PAY, DAMN YOU!!!

My dear osm:

Any reader with so much as a shred of the sort of vigilance that used to be a requisite component of the American character is fully aware of the violent personal attacks, the disgusting bestial pornography, and the similar guerilla tactics that an adequacy editor might deploy to deter these presumptuous malcontents that you find so objectionable.

Escalate matters if you must, but please, try not to hurt those who mean you no harm. Unless they like it, of course.

I certainly haven't hacked anything to do with Adequacy, and I haven't said anything truthful about you in recent weeks, but I'm still included in the list. Fascinating.

You keep saying that. Maybe someday, someone will believe it.

You just don't like me because I prove you're an idiot time and time again.

Dont' cry about it though. I'm sure it's nothing new. You probably get your ass handed to you on a daily basis anyway. So what's one more bully?

Hey, if you consider the fifth grade your senior year, what else can you be besides a pompous jackass?

On what grounds do you base your impression of yourself as a "bully?"

Are you familiar with the term, "patsy?"

i thought adequacy is established for whiners... (none / 0) (#12)

i am very fond of adequacy since i thought this site is established for whiners of all kinds. And i'm just one of them. It's in my nature. I can't help it. I have another complaint that might have escaped inadequacy editors' notice. And this one's in a more friendly tone when i am in a good mood.

But i need to remind em that not all people like to whine about things or like whiners in particular. So stop harassing my ISP for our little whining games we played merrily all along. In case you don't know who you are emailing your complaints about my copying habit. Check this out! Don't want to scare inadequate whiners, but let me tell ya you might pick the wrong target to whine about these little affairs between us.
