What am I going to do? I remember reading the Electric Kool-Aid Acid test and thinking, "Woah, Ken Kesey kicks ass, yo."

I grew up in Eugene, and the people who were waaay to into the Greatful Dead or Bob Marley were the same ones who nearly deified Ken Kesey. Don't get me wrong: One Flew Over the Coocoo's Nest is a brilliant book about the plight of man against a controlling society. But its far from the best. Not to mention that I'm soured on the whole Kesey experience by the hippies who post anti-corporate stickers on the back of their $40,000 Range Rovers and the fact that his son, Zane, whom I had to deal with when I worked at Kinko's, is a completely and total self-rightous do-you-know-who-my-father-is prick.

I really hope that linking to Battlefield Earth as the "best" of writing was a joke. If it was, I laughed. If not, my tears will wash the feet of the masses. You wanna talk self-righteous...

The best answer for people like that is, "Yeah... but you're not him. And you never will be."

Loved Sailor's Song; he autographed one of my tattoos during the book-signing tour. It seems like the world keeps losing its most colorful people and there's few who are unique enough to step up to the plate to fill the void.
