I wish he would get rid of that smelly dog!

My fiancee has this big old golden retriever named Budweiser who has been with him since their frat days (yes, both my fiancee and the dog were official fraternity brothers). I really prefer cats since dog hair can be so difficult to get out of the carpet, but Dan is so attached to this dog that I have humored him and let him keep "Buddy". Until now...
We spent today at the park having a picnic and enjoying the weather. Buddy usually accompanies us on these excursions, and today was no exception. Well, Dan is playing frisbee with the dog when my good friend Denise shows up having just got back from the mall.

Denise was wearing this darling sun dress from Donna Karan she had just picked up, and we were talking about our plans for next week. All of a sudden Buddy comes flying out of nowhere, covered in mud, and jumps right up on Denise, trying to lick her face! I was so mad that I swatted at him with the baguette I was holding, but he snapped it out of my hand and ran off with it!

Dan came running over, but does he apologize to poor Denise? No, he yells at me for hitting his stupid flea-ridden dog! Well, we got into it right there, let me tell you, but that wasn't the end of it.

Later this evening Denise called me, crying because she couldn't get the mud stains out of her new sun dress. I felt so bad, and I promised to pay for a new one for her. After the call I told Dan how much his stupid dog just cost us, and I raised the suggestion - just a suggestion, mind you! - that maybe we should consider trading Buddy for a nice calico kitten. Of course that started the arguments all over again, and as far as I am concerned right now, not only is Dan sleeping on the couch tonight, he can stay there until he changes his tune and agrees to get rid of Buddy!

You're asking him to get rid of his dog who is also his fraternity brother. If you loved him you wouldn't do that. Are you sure you're up for this marriage thing? Because it's obvious there are some issues you need to resolve first, dear.

Yours, Abby
