You'll never guess how I got here.

Well, I'm new here, that's obvious. But how did I get here? Actually, it involves insomnia, late night movie channel surfing, and the obsession a 15 year old sister of a friend has with a movie that came out before she was born.

I've been sick with a sinus cold that timed itself perfectly to hit the night before Thanksgiving, which also happens to be my father's Birthday this year. As typical for me with my various maladies, I started having insomnia again too. The inability to breathe comfortably while lying down may have something to do with this too. At any rate, I found myself watching the end of a movie and they started advertizing upcoming movies for the week. When I realized they were showing a director's cut with 15 added minutes of footage digitally remastered, remixed, and whatnot I promptly wrote down the info to email my friend, so she could email her obsessed sister. So I went online. And, as I have a tendency to do, I got distracted. My inbox was full of spam. So I started deleting, but realized a lot of it was from the same place, so I opened it. Yes, I made that first mistake and started down my primrose path for the night. It was one of those emails claiming I had opted in somehow, but wouldn't say HOW or through WHAT company or website. So I opened the "to remove from list" link and it took me to a page with no indication of being associated with ANYTHING. I got frustrated. Since I don't know what I'm doing I tried to figure out what site I was on by viewing the source. Then I wandered off in another window looking up spam and stumbled into some sites with tools and began obsessively bookmarking them. I found a place that unscrambles the purposely muddled urls so you CAN see what site the spam sent you to. I then probably made a HUGE mistake by sending an email to the sender of the spam, the owner of the url where the "remove" instructions were, etc. I TOLD you I don't know what I'm doing. Then I wandered around in spam fighting land and came to a broken page with references to this site. So after a night and a day of adventuring the web has led me here. I have read the TOS. I have read quite a few of the more recent articles and diaries and decided this might be an interesting place. I actually LIKE poltroon's piece, "spike." I doubt I could truly be cataloged as "adequate" by all the editors here, but I do have some hope that I might prove "interesting" if given the chance. Or at least fun to confuse.

For anyone who cares, no, I STILL haven't managed to email my friend. Quel domage.

What is the movie that your sister is obsessed with?

She's my friend's sister, and she LOVES the movie The Wild Bunch.

The others said that such a scheme was too convoluted, but you're the fifth one today to get here by that route. Know what we call that? Creative Marketing, that's what we call that.

Lots of people like poltroon's art, actually. It's just a certain kind of person gets angry about it because they feel threatened and diminshed by it. Adequacy has the same effect on them. Don't like it? No big deal, go somewhere else, right? But they can't go -- it bugs them too much.

Why are they like that? Drugs, television, rock music and violent video games, I say.

Drugs, rock 'n roll, fast cars, and video games are tired old highs. The latest thing for inadequate geeks is to rove in packs and beat up immigrants.

i am unable to participate in your poll due to the glaring lack of a Natalie Portman and/or Eva Habermann option(s). As such, i am highly skeptical of your usefulness around here. we like readers who have some degree of taste.

Maybe you should could consider visiting the olsen twins site.
